Ben Townley is one of the most popular and richest Motocross Rider who was born on December 12, 1984 in Taupo, Waikato, New Zealand. Ben Townley (born 12 December 1984) is a former professional supercross and motocross racer who hails in Taupo, New Zealand. He was a participant during the Motocross World Championships from 2001 through 2005, and also at the AMA Motocross Championships from 2006 until 2013. Townley is well-known for his win in 2004’s MX2 the world title.

2005 witnessed Townley make the jump into the class MX1-GP, the 350cc KTM. Townley was a winner of numerous GPs in the top division in his debut season and was a constant contender for victory towards the time the season was over. He was third, just behind the champion Stefan Everts and fellow New Zealander Josh Coppins.

Townley returned to the Supercross championship in 2007 and won the 2007 Supercross Lites East championship over rookie Ryan Dungey and Ryan Morias. Ben Townley and teammate Ryan Villopoto kept the points race close during the 2007 Motocross series with Townley finishing a close second to his teammate.

In 2008, Townley signed with Team Honda Red Bull Racing to contest the 2008 Supercross/Motocross season riding the Honda CR250F for the Supercross series and the CR450F for the Motocross series. Due to breaking his foot while training for the 2008 Monster Energy AMA East Coast Supercross Lites series Ben was not able to compete. Because of this, Benjamin Coisey from France, took his spot for the East Coast Lites series racing for Red Bull Honda.

Townley and Coppins took on their country’s flag during the Motocross des Nations event in Ernee, France. The event was where Townley first took on the best American riders, who usually compete only at their National championships. Townley was a beast, riding more quickly than Kevin Windham, Mickael Pichon and Stefan Everts, and was only defeated by American champion Ricky Carmichael, who is generally regarded as the fastest rider around the globe.

After winning numerous National titles in his home country of New Zealand, Townley moved to Europe and began competing in for the MX2-GP World Championships held by FIM. He raced for his German PHASE Suzuki team in 2001, but due to internal problems, he left the team near the end of the season. After that, Townley moved to the United States and settled near Carmichael’s home in Tallahassee, Florida. In 2006 Townley suffered a severe knee injury while preparing for the Supercross Lites East championship and subsequently sat out the majority of the 2006 season.
