Bill Frist is one of the most popular and richest Former United States Senator who was born on February 22, 1952 in United States. Frist was a part of the lab under the direction of W. John Powell Jr. at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1977 and continued to study cardiovascular physiology. He left the laboratory at the end of 1978 and became a surgical resident in the surgical department at Massachusetts General Hospital. The following year, he worked for his time in Southampton General Hospital, Southampton, England as a senior surgical registrar in cardiothoracic surgeries. After returning in Massachusetts General in 1984 as chief resident and fellow in cardiothoracic surgery. From 1985 until 1986 Frist was a chief resident and senior fellow in the cardiac transplant program and cardiothoracic surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.

After completing his fellowship, he became a faculty member at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he began a heart and lung transplantation program. He became a staff surgeon at the Nashville Veterans Administration Hospital. In 1989, he founded the Vanderbilt Transplant Center. In 1991, Frist operated on then–Lieutenant Colonel David Petraeus after he had been shot in a training accident at Fort Campbell.

In 1990, Frist met with former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker about the possibilities of public office. Baker advised him to pursue the Senate, and in 1992 suggested that Frist begin preparations to run in 1994. Frist began to build support. He served on Tennessee’s Governor’s Medicaid Task Force from 1992 to 1993, joined the National Steering Committee of the Republican National Committee’s Health Care Coalition, and was deputy director of the Tennessee Bush-Quayle 1992 campaign.

Frist completed his studies at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville followed by Princeton University in 1974, which is where he studied health health policy in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He graduated in 1972 and had an internship during the summer alongside Tennessee Representative Joe L. Evins, who advised Frist that if he wished to pursue a career in politics it was best to first pursue an occupation that was not related to politics. Frist went on into Harvard Medical School, where earned the degree that conferred the title of Doctor of Medicine with honours in the year 1978. While at Harvard He lived in an apartment with the his future United States Congressman David Wu.

When he was an undergraduate student at medical school back in the late 1970s Frist carried out fatal research and vivisections of shelter cats in the course of researching the effects of medications for mitral valves. According to his own accounts, Frist improperly obtained these cats from Boston shelters and in deceitfully telling staff at the shelter that they could adopt the cats to be pets. In his autobiography, Frist asserted that he was a victim of pressure to be successful in an extremely demanding medical school.

In June 1989, Frist published his first book, Transplant: A Heart Surgeon’s Account of the Life-And-Death Dramas of the New Medicine, in which he wrote, “A doctor is a man whose job justifies everything … Life [is] a gift, not an inalienable right.” With J. H. Helderman, he edited “Grand Rounds in Transplantation” in 1995. In October 1999, Frist co-authored Tennessee Senators, 1911–2001: Portraits of Leadership in a Century of Change with J. Lee Annis, Jr.
